2009... A Look Back

Wow - 2009 was an amazing year for us! As our little business has grown we have seen steady progress and development from year to year, and I can honestly say that this past year has been our best yet. We are blessed and overjoyed to be able to work with some of the nicest and most wonderful couples around. Not everyone gets to do what they love, and I couldn't be more grateful to my brides and grooms who have trusted their events with us and have allowed us to continue to be successful in this crazy wedding industry we love so much.

As 2009 draws to a close I wanted to use a post to reflect on some of the amazing weddings we've been a part of this past year. I don't always get photos back from every event so this is not a complete listing of everything we have done this year, but you can see from the photos below that we have had some wonderful settings, amazing photographers, and some of the most beautiful couples out there. Thank you to all of this years brides and grooms - 2009 will be a year you will always remember, and I one that I will certainly never forget.

*** WPP on MTV?? ***

EXCITING NEWS!!! Last week I got a call from a producer at MTV - They found my website online, loved my weddings, and wanted to feature one of my couples on an episode of their show True Life. After working out some details they interviewed my bride and said they were very interested in their story. It's not a sure thing yet -- but it is a strong possibility -- and we'll know very soon if they have picked us. Everyone cross your collective fingers! We're all super excited for the opportunity. I'll keep you all in the loop as the details unfold - Stay tuned!!

Oooh! WPP wedding featured on another wedding blog!

On of my couples - Colleen and Eric - were married at Glen Sanders Mansion on October 30th. I freaking LOVED these guys. The bride is the sweetest thing ever, and their wedding was absolutely gorgeous. Well, apparently Glen Sanders agreed and they featured Colleen and Eric's wedding on their blog. Check out the listing - and the Wedding Planning Plus plug! :)

Also, check back soon to see the full recap of Colleen and Eric's wedding. Great pics - must see!!

WPP Photo of the Week!

I love accessories, especially when it comes to what brides do with their hair. This is one of the prettiest looks I've seen - these vintage hair clips so neatly placed around her bun. They shimmered and sparkled all night. Love love love!

Destination Wedding Spotlight - Las Vegas

Who doesn't love Sin City? With the massive hotels, the famous Las Vegas strip, world class restaurants, shows, and all the crazy nightlife you can handle, it's no wonder this is considered a playground for adults! Not only is Vegas a great place for partying but it can be a great destination wedding location for you and your guests. Consider pampering yourself by the pool or in one of the big resort spas, or combining your bachelor/bachelorette parties in with your wedding week? I took a recent trip to Las Vegas to check out more of what the area had to offer to brides and grooms. Las Vegas has so much to offer - now I just need a couple who wants to take the plunge there!

Want to learn more about my trip? E-mail me at Shannon@WeddingPlanningPlus.net.

More wisdom from past brides...

We all have those days, when life seems to get us a little lower than we'd like... And then there are those little angels who pick us back up and keep us moving on... Just so happens that some of my angels are past brides! Who knew??

Here's a message from one tonight...

"But... you know, you have the power to change lives. With all the ridiculousness going on in the world, there should be more people like you who just want to focus on peoples happiness and bringing family together - and you have changed my life. I mean, my interactions with you for a year and a half, and then that one incredible day will be such a huge part of me, I hope forever. You'll have your bad days, but your good days are so so good. I'll always be your #1 fan."

Awwwww! Thanks Kimm!!! You made my day! Love you!

WPP Photo of the Week!

The uber beautiful reception table for the Parker wedding at the Sagamore back in July. Who doesn't love dripping crystal chandeliers, fluffy wonderful floral arrangements, and all of your guests seated around one big table? I never get sick of these photos - I could post these pictures over and over again. GORGEOUS!

Lane Wedding - July 18, 2009

Kimm and Jerel Lane were married July 18th, 2009, at the Union Gables Bed and Breakfast in Saratoga Springs. Their wedding was beautiful with pops of bright green and bold flower colors that showed a lot of their fun young personality. Check out the fabulous cake by Angelina Tallmann! This was the bride's favorite part of her wedding, and she loved the cake so much I actually had to "force" her to cut it. She thought it was so beautiful she didn't want to eat it!

This event is truly an example of a wedding where a small budget went a very long way. They had a stunning Victorian mansion in downtown Saratoga, beautiful flowers and ambiance, great food and music, and all for a surprisingly modest cost. If you were to ask them they would tell you that they ended up with a lot more than they originally expected. I helped them find lots of creative ways to stretch each dollar and they got the wedding of their dreams on a budget they were comfortable with.

Kimm is a bride I will never forget, and I mean that with the most love and sincerity (look back to the post I put up the night of their wedding to see what I mean). Thanks to their photographer for taking such great pics! These photos are courtesy of Bob Donlon (www.bobdonlon.com).

Enjoy!

A Lot to be Thankful For

This is a great time to reflect on the good things in life! I wrap myself up in weddings most of the time, but outside of weddings I have a great family and a lot of really wonderful friends. If it wasn't for all of their love and support then I wouldn't be able to do what I do. Starting up and running your own business is not easy but they encourage me and motivate me to do my best, and because of them I am so very thankful.

Here are a few pics of some of the people I am thankful for, personally and professionally...

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

My mom and my brothers... My mom is my best friend...

My baby!!

Katie, my sister-in-law and one of my WPP Wedding Planners...

Sarah, my "sis" and my other WPP Wedding Planner...

Laura, WPP Intern for 2009...
Now, some of my closest friends... Your encouragement means so much!

I love my wedding vendor friends... I don't have pics of you all, and if i did there would be far too many of you to list...

Above is David Michael Schmidt from Renaissance Floral Design.

This is the fabulous photographer Tracey Buyce...

And, of course, my brides and grooms... I am so very thankful for all of my wonderful clients. You are all so special to me!!
